The data set covers all relevant input and output flows of the represented gate to gate unit process with a good overall data quality. The inventory is mainly based on industry data and is completed, where necessary, by secondary data.

The process data represents production in Germany and Austria.
Reinforced thermoplastic semi-finished products are mainly 2D organic sheets, which have to be formed in a separate process step to the final part geometry. In general the organic sheet is heated up somewhat above the melting temperature. As heating system a double-sided infrared heating device is considered, whereas the organic sheet will be continuously passes through. The velocity of the conveyer belt is adapted to the required energy/ heat input. Afterwards the hot stack is placed on the forming tool, which is closed by a press. The forming tool has a constant temperature to ensure a defined crystallization. The press is designed for the required compression forces, defined through the process pressure and part size. The dataset is valid for the parameters shown in the table below. The described process is a subprocess in the production of carbon fiber reinforced plastics.
